Chamber strengthens executive committee of local leaders

The Lichfield and Tamworth Chamber of Commerce has welcomed four new members onto its executive committee last week as the group, which represents businesses across both districts, grew to 16 members.

The new members include well-respected business contacts from diverse sectors including accountancy, website design, the third sector and emerging technology with managing director John Moore of Lichfield-based Fruition Accountants, James Blackman, managing director of Lichfield-based CocoonFXMedia, Dawn Candy, operations director of Number Eight Tamworth and Suzanne Edwards, managing director of Enlighten AR.

Chamber president, Jason Challoner said: "The representation of a wide range of sectors on our committee is important for the work the Chamber does in engaging with our members and the wider business community in Lichfield and Tamworth and we look forward to hearing their views on policy, continuing to see them at our events and working as a committee to act as a voice for our community."

Suzanne Edwards (pictured) said: “ I have lived in Tamworth all my life so it was really important that my business was based in my home town. I am committed to using local businesses wherever possible, to support our local economy, and being part of the Lichfield and Tamworth Chamber ensures I am fully aware of all the wonderful businesses we have to offer.”

James Blackman said: “I have two businesses based in Lichfield and have a very strong connection with Tamworth as that’s where my business first started. Being on the committee and rejoining, is not only helping the local economy but also helps shape how the chamber works for its members. I am very passionate about all businesses paid in 30 days and equally passionate about Environment Impact & Diversity/Inclusion. There should be no barriers in business as we’re all human. I also want to help grow the next generation of business leaders with Future Faces”

John Moore said: "Having moved to Lichfield in December 2019 and moved our business operations into Lichfield in December 2020. It made sense to engage with the business community in the City and becoming a member of the Chamber seemed an obvious route to do this. In 2021 having established our Accountancy Practice in the City the opportunity to become a member of the Committee for Lichfield & Tamworth seems to be a win-win for all concerned, as being able to share my passion for the City and desire to help many businesses in their growth, this platform will enable me to engage even more with the community."

Dawn Candy said: "As a small charity the recognition that we are a valued member of the local area who achieve what we set out to do, which is make a positive difference to the young parents and their child's lives now and in the future. The main benefits we envisage are the skills and knowledge that the Chamber members are willing to share with us, even before our first meeting companies had been in touch with offers and requests to visit.

"We are very much a person-centred charity, run mostly by people, support with pay role, accounts, marketing, IT, HR, policies, training in these areas etc. would save us time and money which would then be ploughed back into what we do best."
